This course offers hands-on activities to acquaint students with several approaches to painting. Students will learn how to organize paints in the classroom, mix paints and paint by imitating the great masters. Best of all, instruction is step-by-step. The course presents the lives of six significant artists and their place in art history. In the process, students will re-create their styles and have masterpieces of their own. Participants will do pointillism like Seurat, try geometric design like Mondrian, dab paint like Van Gogh, try abstract expressionism like Kandinsky, paint a paper collage like Matisse and a still life in the style of Cezanne. This course will help participants teach art in the classroom and use art to enrich your curriculum.
