Course Description

 

Adolescents: Where are they coming from, where are they going and what can we do? (3 Credits)

ED 557.2X   

This course will provide a forum to deal with up to date issues and concerns as related to the adolescent through information and community resources to help instructors understand and address the immediate needs of students in distress. Issues include current trends, media, war, the changing face of family, gender differences, depression and suicide, communication, peer networks, drugs/alcohol, and body image. The course will provide educators with the resources to both connect with and empower adolescents, as teens move through this difficult journey. Community experts will speak in both preventative and therapeutic paradigms.
