Course Description

Let's Go to the Movies (3 Credits)

ED 559.2X

Film is one of the dominant forces in our pop culture. It influences attitudes and behaviors. People often take their cues in life from film celebrities, as well as the films themselves. Messages can be subtle, often affecting how people see themselves, others, and the world. The purpose of this class is to help participants develop critical thinking skills in their film movie viewing as well as provide them with activities that they can use in a classroom (7-12). In this class, students will become film critics, analyzing themes, plot, mood, character development, and other aspects of film. American and foreign films will be viewed and guest speakers will present.
